Other Permanent Visas

Some of the other types of Permanent resident visas are:

Former Resident Visa
May be available for people who spent a large part of their childhood in Australia as Permanent Resident and now want to migrate back or resume their permanent residence status.
 
Close Ties Visa
For people who last entered Australia before 1 January 1975 and have not left since that date and now unlawful non-citizens. It is also applicable for unlawful non-citizens or bridging visa holders who are aged 18 or over and who entered Australia and stopped holding a substantive visa before they turned 18.
 
Absorbed Person Visa
Only applies to a small number of people who have been unlawfully in Australia for a long time. This visa is deemed by law to be granted.
 
Norfolk Island Permanent Resident Visa
Permanent residents of Norfolk Island may travel to Australia without a visa and can apply for this visa on arrival, which allows them to remain in Australia indefinitely.
 
Witness Protection Visa
Available for people who have significantly assisted Australian Police in their investigation and/or prosecution of a person allegedly involved in people trafficking or other exploitative offences.

Other Temporary Visas

Some of the other types of Temporary resident visas are:

Retirement Visa
This visa is for older (55 years or older), wealthy people who want to retire in Australia, who have no dependents (other than spouse – who can be less than 55 years of age) and who can be self supporting.
 
Expatriate Dependent Visa
This visa is for the spouse and other dependents of an employee of an international company assigned to work in a remote part of the Asia Pacific region, who wish to reside in Australia during that assignment.
 
Family Relationship Visa (unaccompanied Children under 18 years)
This visa is for children under 18, who have family friends or relatives in Australia, who have invited them to live with them for up to a year.
 
Supported Dependents
This visa is for people who are members of the family unit of an Australian citizen, permanent resident or New Zealand citizen who lives outside Australia but who intends to live in Australia temporarily.
